The Bhagavad Gita — 'The Song of the Lord' — is a 700-verse dialogue between prince Arjuna and Krishna, set on the battlefield of Kurukshetra moments before a great war. It forms part of the Mahabharata, one of the two great epics of ancient India.

Tradition reads the Gita's eighteen chapters as three movements of six. Chapters 1–6 explore karma yoga — the discipline of selfless action. Chapters 7–12 unfold bhakti yoga — the way of devotion and love. Chapters 13–18 illuminate jnana yoga — the path of knowledge and discernment.
Together they trace one complete arc: from Arjuna's breakdown in chapter one to his quiet 'my doubts are gone, I will act' in chapter eighteen. It is the journey every reader is invited to make.
